Product Overview- The Siglent SDM3055 has a 6-inch dual digital display & calculates much math & statical function without any difficulties, it also includes a variety of communication interface & easy to setup. The meter is equipped with a 4.3-inch TFT-LCD screen for high performance, calculation of functions in seconds.
Responsive UI and loaded with features like LAN, histograms, and trend charts. The Siglent SDM3055 has a robust engine, having a speed of 150rdgs/s with mass storage instrument setting, U disk external storage & historical data. A built-in SCPI command programming provides remote control operation programming.
The SCPI plays a major role in the transmission of various sets of another multimeter & also controls the language for a smooth experience. The probes it comes with, while nice and sharp. They are not gold plated and even shorting them out is intermittent and readings are all over the place. The continuity is ridiculously slow with supplied probes, however, If you have a new spare set of good gold plated probes and they would solve all the problems.
Now you get fast accurate readings and continuity is plenty fast though if you try hard enough you can get it to skip. It would take continuity about 0.2 to 0.4 seconds to register. With supplied probes, it was taking up to a second. Maybe I got a bad pair.
But the meter is great and for under $500 it is a great buy. It has built-in Chinese & English menus for selecting the appropriate options. The box contains 220V AC EU power cord, One pair of leads, One pair of alligator clips, USB Cable & a QuickStart Guide.

Pros:
The Siglent SDM3055 has a 6-inch dual digital display & calculates much math & statical function without any difficulties, it also includes a variety of communication interface & easy to setup. The meter is equipped with a 4.3-inch TFT-LCD screen for high performance, calculation of functions in seconds. Responsive UI and loaded with features like LAN, histograms, and trend charts.

A built-in SCPI command programming provides remote control operation programming. The SCPI plays a major role in the transmission of various sets of another multimeter & also controls the language for a smooth experience. The probes it comes with, while nice and sharp It is cheaper compared to other multimeters.
Cons:
- A few minor issues
- The setting voltage setting on the transformer in the back came set to 220V. Do check the switch in the back and flip it to your local voltage level in the back before turning on the multimeter!
- The open-circuit voltage in the continuity test mode is over 6V! The meter could potentially damage sensitive components.
- The LED on the front is always pulsing even with the meter switched off.
- The unit up and running for about a week and it was perfect. All of a sudden the 5v source now shows up as 4.9918v instead of 5.0006v.Not sure what to do. The boot time is slow & takes time to reboot the device. The Fan is a bit noisy creating a disturbance while working.
- The device cost is expensive.
Conclusion:
This product is very good quality for the and has met our needs. The high impedance capability below 2V was exceptionally important to us and it functions as required. The UI is really good and easy to navigate. They are fully functioning DMMs. The capacitance test, frequency, and remote-controlled use are awesome.
It has a LAN port and built-in USB. The display is clean, bright, large, and high contrast. The unit is and its use is very intuitive. You hardly have to refer to the manual for anything. The device checks two 7 four-wire resistance checking. It does only measure up to 10A so be aware of this.
This is a good DMM Very nice desktop DVM with a really nice bright display. Probes are superb. Well-packaged but quite heavy, presumably due to large power transformer inside. Printed literature is minimal; the actual operating manual is provided in PDF form on a CD. There is hardly any information provided on how to use the unit for more advanced purposes like integrating it into a LabVIEW system.
The only negative about the unit was shipped with a 110VAC power cord as expected but the unit itself was set to 220VAC. The certificate of calibration traces back to the product for the cost.
I tested its accuracy against a constant voltage source as well as a constant current source. It was dead-on in both cases. The Siglent gives various applications in Research Fields, Development Laboratory, repair & maintenance, Calibration laboratory, Automatic production test, General bench-Top use. Excellent device for the hobbyist as well for industrial usage.
What is a digital multimeter?
A digital multimeter is a device, generally used to measure current, voltage & resistance. Basically these devices are used by technicians in large scale electronics industries. The multimeters are required in almost every electrical or electronics field.
The Digital multimeter can be converted into voltmeter, ammeter & ohmmeter for measuring Volts, Amps & ohm by operating a multi-Positioning knob
They can also measure DC(Direct current) as well as AC(Alternating current). The multimeters contain special features like “Detecting Short circuits”, testing transistors & additional features like measuring capacitance & frequency.
What are the uses of a digital multimeter?
The multimeters are divided into two parts:-
Analog Multimeters-The old fashioned multimeters which used a needle for measuring the voltage, ampere & ohms, they were not having any additional feature & also dependable on a thin needle which can be broken easily
Digital Multimeters- The new-fashioned multimeters which use a large display screen for showing the digits of volts, amps & ohms, they include many additional features than the analog multimeter & also show accurate figures of the data.
Digital Multimeters are widely used in many fields like- Research Fields, Development Laboratory, repair & maintenance, Calibration laboratory, Automatic production test, General bench-Top use & Robotics
How does a digital multimeter work?
The digital multimeter works on the principle of ohms law i.e R=V/I, it converts the resistance, voltage & current in the form of DC voltage within the range & shoes the certain digits on the LCD screen.
